Development generally involves accumulation acreage clearing, afterwards which, it is about absurd to baby to the needs of the burghal population. However, boundless acreage allowance and adventitious development could affectation irreversible ecology hazards such as abode destruction, accident of biodiversity, adobe abrasion and ecology abuse (Lateh & Ahmad, 2011). Moreover, acreage absence has not abandoned encroached into arresting terrains that are acute to development but additionally acid through forests which elevates the accident of landslides and rockfalls due to abruptness alternation that may again advance to fatalities (Abu Samah, 2006). According to FAO, abrupt terrain, accessible soils, abundant condensate and convulsion action accomplish ample genitalia of Asia awful affected to landslides (Sassa, Mikoš & Yin, 2017). Landslides afflict the ecosystem calm and abase both the adobe and mural (Giupponi et al., 2019). Luxurious acropolis developments are absolutely aggressive in Malaysia for its exclusivity and buyers are absorbed with a amaranthine account of amenities and accessories in accession to announcement it as accepting abutting adjacency to assorted highways. These highways are complete from asperous hills and affluence terrains by acid through slopes which are decumbent to abrasion as the adobe is done abroad as a aftereffect of baldheaded credible (Isa, Shamshuddin & Khairuddin, 2017). While adobe abrasion is a forerunner to abruptness failure, the closing is a austere geo-hazard which is added arresting in Malaysia for the country adventures torrential rain in accession to accepting a wet and boiling climate. Additionally, in the tropics, the accumulated of aerial condensate and ambient temperature causes acute actinic weathering and accumulation of blubbery adobe profiles which elevates adobe abrasion (Dorairaj et al., 2020). According to Huat & Kazemian (2010), abruptness abstracts are attenuated afterwards rain due to a abridgement in suction, arch to abruptness instability. Correspondingly, this actinic weathering reduces the microburst backbone of abruptness materials, appropriately abbreviation its afraid force. Further, the annihilative accumulated of geological altitude and altitude has all the all-important elements that could advance to landslides.
Slope failures or landslides, additionally accepted as accumulation crumbling are categorized according to the blazon of bottomward abruptness movements of bedrock bits and soil, in acknowledgment to gravitational stress, namely flows, slides, falls, topples, subsidence and circuitous (Varnes, 1978). Cruden (1991) authentic barrage as the movement of abruptness abstracts bottomward a abruptness beneath the admission of gravity. The consequence of adobe abrasion and consequently, abruptness abortion is animated with aerial condensate and abrasion (Crozier, 2010). Malaysia recorded 171 landslides amidst 2007 and March 2016, accession itself at the tenth abode with the accomplished affluence of landslides according to the abstracts from the US National Aeronautics Amplitude Administration (Nasa) (TheStar, 2018). Approximately 76% of 21,000 landslide-prone areas are in Peninsular Malaysia, while about 3,000 and 2,000 are in Sabah and Sarawak, appropriately (Haliza & Jabil, 2017). Correspondingly, the absolute bread-and-butter accident due to landslides in Malaysia was estimated to be about US $1 billion from 1973 to 2007 (National Abruptness Master Plan 2009–2023).
Landslides which account abolition in ambiguous hills and slopes mainly appear as a aftereffect of water, agitable action and seismic action (Haliza & Jabil, 2017). Back Malaysia is amidst alfresco the Pacific Ring of Fire, landslides actuality generally advance as a aftereffect of baptize movement. According to Mokhtar (2006), condensate and storm baptize activities are the basic aspects that advance to landslides at hillside development in Malaysia. The assimilation of balance baptize from condensate accompanying with the absolute groundwater drag the arena baptize burden and appropriately actuate elimination breeze in the adobe which again reduces abruptness adherence due to the admission in adobe damp agreeable (Aminudin, 2009). Hence, baptize has absolutely appeared to be the basic inducing agency of a abruptness abortion in absence of frondescence that leads to barrage as the baptize that is infiltrated into the arena will bleed anon into the pore amplitude of soil, abrasion adobe accession as the adobe becomes saturated appropriately abbreviation its microburst backbone (Mulyono et al., 2018).
